John has tried numerous cases to verdict including substantial verdicts and settlements in medical malpractice, wrongful death, catastrophic injury, and childhood sexual abuse. He has been recognized in Best Lawyers in America for both Plaintiff’s Personal Injury and Commercial Litigation, and by The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel as a top commercial litigation lawyer.
He holds an AV rating from Martindale Hubbell. He has served as president of the Vermont Association for Justice, a member of the Board of Governors of the American Association for Justice and as the Vermont Bar Association’s representative to the Vermont Legislature’s Medical Malpractice Study Committee. He is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. For nearly twenty years, he taught trial advocacy at Vermont Law School.
He is also a frequent presenter on trial techniques and jury selection. In addition to an active litigation practice, John provides trial consulting services to other lawyers and is a member of the American Society of Trial Consultants. John lives in New Haven with his wife Caroline. His community activities have included service on his town’s Zoning Board and Planning Commission, and as a Board member of Addison County Home Health.
